Text messaging can help control malaria

Taking advantage of existing infrastructure and low-cost technology, mobile phone text messaging could provide an important means of closing the information gap between managers, health workers, and patients in Africa. Several ways to transform this potential into improvements in the delivery of health services and health outcomes are examined in a recent paper in PLoS Medicine, co-authored by WWARN Regional Scientific Director - East Africa, Dr Ambrose Talisuna.
