The new edition of the Manson's Tropical Diseases has been published. It includes a chapter by Professor Paul Newton and Dr Céline Caillet of the Medicine Quality Research Group, that describes and discusses the epidemiology, impact on patients and public health, causes and solutions to the problem of substandard and falsified medicines in low- and middle-income countries. This is the first time that this subject has been expressly included in this venerable textbook.
