New ACT approved by European Medicines Agency

Eurartesim®, a combination of dihydroartemisinin and piperaquine, has been approved by the European Commission for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by the parasite Plasmodium falciparum. The drug will now be submitted to WHO's Prequalification Programme for approval which, on grant, would accelerate acceptance by national regulatory authorities in countries where malaria is endemic.
