Prof. Tinto is Regional Director of IRSS in Nanoro and acquired his PhD in 2006 from the University of Antwerp (Belgium) where he worked on the epidemiology and mechanisms of malaria drug resistance in Burkina Faso and Rwanda at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM). After his PhD, he created the Clinical Research Unit of Nanoro in 2008, where several studies were conducted including a malaria phase 3 vaccine trial (RTS, S).
His past research activities include epidemiological surveillance of malaria drug resistance as a research Associate at Centre Muraz in Burkina Faso (1995-1999), development of alternative medicine against malaria at the Royal Danish School of Pharmacy in Denmark (1999-2000), research associate at the Institute for Health Sciences Research (IRSS) in Burkina Faso (2001), and Scientific Director of Centre Muraz (2013-2014).
Recently, Prof. Tinto has graduated as Professor in Parasitology at the University of Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso (2016). He is also author and co-author of more than 100 publications in international per-reviewed journals.
