Dr Sally Shrapnel is a general practitioner with more than 20 years clinical experience, having worked in indigenous, rural and urban settings in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
Dr Shrapnel has a Masters in Bioengineering from Imperial College, London, a PhD from the University of Queensland Australia and currently works as a Senior Lecturer in Data Science and Physics at the University of Queensland. Her current research focus is explainable machine learning and AI in health care.
She helped establish the COVID-19 Critical Care Consortium observational study, acting as a Chief Investigator from February to September 2020 and continues as a consortium partner developing causal modelling approaches to COVID-19 data analysis. She is an academic contributor to the ISARIC COVID-19 study.
