Gloria T. Mason, MBE, trained professionally as a Bioethicist at Harvard Medical School, Center for Bioethics, she completed additional short-term training programs in diverse thematic areas in (bio)-ethics from the Berman Institute for Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University, the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Ms. Mason has over five years of experience as the Coordinator/Director of the National Research Ethics Board (NREB) of Liberia with extensive expertise in structurally transitioning the NREB from a fundamental ethical institution during its stabilisation phase to health emergency during the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak and the existing post-EVD recovery period. Presently, Ms. Mason is the Executive Director of the West African Consortium (WAC), a sub-regional body established to strengthen capacity, harmonise ethical frameworks and foster research collaboration in West Africa, and the President of the West African Ethics Committee (WAEC) Network, a conglomeration of sub-regional ethical institutions established to support National Ethics Committees (NECs) in West Africa.

As a member of the national taskforce established to develop a framework for bioethics in Liberia, Ms. Mason brings significance expertise in developing ethical frameworks and institutional structures in Low and Middle Income Countries, Data Safety and Monitoring Boards, ethical guidelines for biobanks during health emergencies, community engagement and mobilisation, and conducting clinical trials during health emergencies.
