Acting Director announced at the WHO Global Malaria Programme
Dr Reeder has led TDR since February 2012, and has followed closely the work of the WHO Global Malaria Programme and the Malaria Policy Advisory Committee. He has over 30 years of research experience in infectious diseases, primarily malaria, and has managed complex international research programmes around the world. Among others, Dr Reeder has collaborated with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust.
A naturalized Australian, born and educated in England, Dr Reeder received his PhD in microbiology at the University of Manchester and has published over 130 scientific papers spanning basic laboratory research to large community-based field studies. He also holds a professorship at Monash University, Australia.
Dr Reeder will be managing both the WHO Global Malaria Programme and TDR during this transitional period.
